Captain Denim on 'A Vivir que son dos Días': How to make sustainable jeans… and what it has to do with film
Did you know that the term "jeans" originated in Genoa and that jeans are one of the most iconic garments in American cinema? And that at Capitán Denim we manufacture jeans in Albacete, saving up to 90% of water thanks to sustainable processes?
All this and much more was part of the conversation in the special episode of Miénteme Cine on the Cadena SER program 'A vivir que son dos días' , where Juan , one of our managers at Capitán Denim, revealed secrets of our factory... and even some curiosities that were only known within our walls!
From Bruce Springsteen to the workshops of Castilla-La Mancha
The episode began with an iconic image: the cover of the album Born in the USA , with Springsteen sporting distressed jeans, a silhouette so culturally powerful that it connects us directly to the history of denim.
From there, the journey took us to Capitán Denim , a jeans factory located in Albacete , where we continue to manufacture pants with a strong commitment to sustainability , textile tradition and innovation .
This is how sustainable trousers are made
During the interview, Juan explained step by step how a pair of pants is made in our facilities:
-
From fabric selection to pattern making and cutting
-
How do we reduce the consumption of natural resources, especially water?
-
The use of more environmentally friendly dyes
-
And the difference between classic indigo jeans and colored pants
Thanks to technologies like lasers and ozone , we achieve water savings of up to 90% in washing and finishing processes. Furthermore, we are committed to textile recycling, local production, and sustainable materials.
Cowboys, cinema and American culture
The program also connected the history of jeans with their starring role in Hollywood films . From James Dean to Clint Eastwood, jeans have been a symbol of rebellion, hard work, and style—a garment that has transcended decades, generations, and movie screens.
In this context, Capitán Denim positions itself as a brand that not only understands the history of jeans, but also projects it into the future: manufacturing in Spain, with environmental awareness and social commitment .
Workshop secrets… revealed live!
During the talk, Juan shared some little-known details about our manufacturing process that, until now, only we within the team knew. From special sewing techniques to how we identify fabric defects by hand. An exclusive look behind the scenes at Capitán Denim.
