What is eco-efficiency?

As you know, eco-efficiency refers us to the idea of 鈥嬧媠ustainability applied to respect for the environment in the broadest sense. We can say that eco-efficiency is understood as the relationship between the value of the product or service and the total environmental impacts produced throughout its life cycle.

According to the Royal Academy of Engineering, eco-efficiency is roughly "the environmental strategy of reducing the impact of a product or service by increasing the efficiency of resource use" .

But taking a look at history we find that specifically, the origin of the term dates back to 1992, when the World Business Council for Sustainable Development -WBCSD-, defined it as "providing goods and services at a competitive price, meeting the needs and the quality of life, while progressively reducing the environmental impact and the intensity of the use of resources throughout the life cycle, to a level compatible with the estimated capacity that the planet can support .

Eco-efficiency would thus focus on respecting the environment and natural resources through the development of sustainable, efficient procedures with managed risks.

In a factory like ours, we try to minimize the ecological impact -carbon footprint, emissions, etc.- that our production entails without neglecting economic growth, performance and the evolution of sustainable industrial processes through, among other aspects, the use of eco-efficient machinery that reduces the use of resources within an objective of maximum possible efficiency.

Among the machinery of our factory, we highlight the laser that we use to perform various effects on the fabric . This machine works by means of an innovative CO 2 system that does not use water and, therefore, avoids the expense of this resource.

Despite the fact that the machinery used in our factory already has intelligent systems and devices to enhance its productivity while reducing the use of resources, at Capitan Denim we continue to investigate and analyze the different processes, materials and devices in order to Minimize the impact we have on the environment.
